Nissly Chocolate Factory Apartments

Nissly Chocolate Factory Apartments was originally built in 1920 for the Nissly Swiss Chocolate Factory and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In 1996, the buildings were renovated to provide 28 apartments for low to moderate income seniors.

In 2019, Community Basics began an extensive renovation to update the exterior of the building along with upgrades within each apartment. The renovation included new parking lot paving, line striping, and a brand-new community sign. The original factory steel windows were replaced with high-efficiency aluminum windows that provide a smooth and easy operable window for residents.

The community room was freshened with new paint, flooring, new cabinet doors and a new HVAC unit. Common areas within the apartment building received new flooring, paint, and interior signage. The apartment units received new HVAC units, selective plumbing fixture replacement, kitchen cabinet door replacements and new electric ranges.

The improvements to the building have provided a positive impact on the daily lives of the residents. Community Basics Inc. greatly appreciates the many partners that helped bring this project to fruition:
